Semi-Automatic Ultrasonic Testing Of The “Variante Spina Di Pomezia” Pipeline
Metalprove has successfully completed Non-Destructive Testing activities in the construction of the “Variante Spina di Pomezia” natural gas pipeline DN 200 DP 12 owned by SNAM Rete Gas.
Experimentally, semi-automatic ultrasounds (Phased Array + TOFD) were carried out to replace radiography in testing of 8-inch diameter welds.
The excellent results obtained can be used by the Customer to modify the current specification, in order to use SA-UT starting from thicknesses lower than the current limits (8 mm) and therefore guaranteeing higher safety conditions in SNAM construction sites, often located in urban areas with high population density.
